Does it bother you to see people who call themselves Christians but who don’t seem to be any different than before? Does it bother you that you often don’t seem any different than before? It certainly bothered the Apostle Paul. He wrote: “For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if
I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.” (Romans 7:19-20 NIV). So it seems we can be Christians but not be everything we want to be or are called to be.
On the other hand, Jesus said clearly, “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord,
Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21). Which is it? Does becoming a Christian require turning over a new leaf or not?
