This second quarter is a journey through the historical books of the Old Testament, from Joshua to Esther. These books record the history of the Israelite people whom God chose to be the lineage of the Messiah Jesus Christ. Their history spans nearly 1,000 years from their conquest of Canaan (The Promised Land), their leadership by biblical judges, the eventual establishment of a monarchy, its division into two regions, and the Babylonian Captivity. You may wonder how we can journey with Jesus in the Old Testament. Remembering that Jesus has always been and always will be is important. Following Jesus means following the entire Bible. Why? Because, as He explained, Scripture confirms and explains His identity: “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life, and these are they which testify about Me” (John 5:39). Therefore, the entire Old Testament points to Jesus!
