Greetings . This month, we celebrated the ninth anniversary of Discipleship Journeys with Jesus! Thank you for being part of this community—your prayers, support, and partnership are what make every step possible. In this edition of This Week in DJJ, you’ll run through the milestones that have shaped our journey. May the words you read today inspire you to walk deeper in your own discipleship journey:

Since its public launch on September 20, 2016—when we began with no funding, no materials, and no office space—DJJ has pursued a bold vision to fulfill Jesus’ Great Commission. Today, more than 100,000 people have used DJJ lessons to grow as disciples, answering Christ’s command to “make disciples
of all nations.”
Below you’ll find the nine most significant milestones from our first nine years:
1. The Birth of a Vision (December 16, 2015)
During a prayer retreat at Balboa Park in San Diego, the idea for a newministry took shape and the name Discipleship Journeys with Jesus was chosen. The core mission, vision, and a 52‑week lesson plan were then drafted, laying the groundwork for everything that followed.
2. Public Launch (September 20, 2016)
Less than one year later, DJJ was officially launched to the
public, introducing a fresh approach to discipleship and inviting believers worldwide to join the journey.
3. First Materials Online (September 11, 2017)
The inaugural set of teaching resources went live on the DJJ website. An online launch celebration attracted 45 participants eager to explore the new curriculum.
4. Bible Lands Video Expedition (November 2 – December 17, 2017)
Our first “Bible Lands” trip produced 42 videos filmed across 21 locations, providing a vivid visual backdrop for the
lessons. The series was completed on the fourth expedition in May 2022.
5. Expanded Vision (September 7, 2018)
The DJJ board unanimously adopted an ambitious new goal: “Take 100 million people on Discipleship Journeys with Jesus.” This vision now guides our strategic planning and outreach.
6. New Testament Curriculum Completed (May 24, 2021)
All lessons for the New Testament Quarter 4 were released, marking the completion of the entire New Testament study cycle.
7. Old Testament Rollout (February 3 & May 29 ,2025)
Old Testament Quarter 1
(English) was published on the DJJ site on Feb, 2025, with Quarter 2 following on May 29, extending the curriculum into the Hebrew Scriptures.
8. Global Reach Expands (August 5, 2025)
DJJ was accessed in its 128th country—Slovakia—demonstrating the growing worldwide impact of the program.
9. Arabic New Testament Release (May 22, 2025)
The first Arabic New Testament Quarter 1 lesson went live, bringing DJJ to its 21st language and further widening accessibility for believers around the globe.
